"I want to live like a poor man with lots of money" -- Pablo Picasso

With different people, different sides of our personalities come out. With some friends we solve the world's problems over coffee. With others we make dirty jokes and crack each other up. We debate politics endlessly with others. Some people bring out the worst in puns and silly elementary school jokes. There are enough facets that come out more with certain people that I sometimes feel like I am a completely different person with them.

But what happens when you're with someone and you're not the person you want to be? You try to tell a funny story, it ends up long and pointless. Try to make them laugh, it seems forced. Try to be charming and it comes out neurotic. The list goes on. All the elements are there - they come out all the time, but they won't come together this time. Try to be the best version of all those things and end up a pale, mediocre imitation? Does that come from trying too hard?

Holy Cow. Sometimes a cover is so many times better than the original. Johnny Cash singing Hurt by Nine Inch Nails. It's a powerful thing seeing him sing the song, after all he's been through, it's a wonder he's still alive. It's odd to say that. I've got some stories that I could tell about that Nine Inch Nails CD. I remember listening to that last track over and over again.

Fish lack the awareness to feel pain. So there's no reason not to eat them!
