Yeah, Hansen, validation's a bitch. (And when are you going to get some freakin' permalinks, man?) Those self-help ya-yas tell you that you should be your own source of validation, but that's sort of like masturbation. Yeah, it's nice and all, but it's never truly satisfying. I definitely look to women too much for validation, but I think the real problem is when all your eggs are in one basket. If you get all your validation from one place, as soon as something happens there, everything goes to hell in a bucket.
If it's not a saying, it should be: people would be a lot better off if they bothered to take their own advice.

Heard a commercial for one of those 'picture phones' yesterday. They guy in the commercial asked Catherine Zeta-Jones why he needed one and she gave an elaborate story about him playing beach volleyball with a lingerie model and her twin sister and how he would need a picture phone to prove it to his friends.
Is that the best reason they can give me to buy a picture phone? Because you know how often I play beach volleyball with lingerie models!
