One day on Ajax, another day on Snowmass. Did my best skiing yet. The custom boot insoles I got this week are a thing of beauty; although there is no such thing as a comfortable ski boot, my feet stayed warm.
There's nothing like a hot tub in the winter time but you need to be careful getting in because a sheet of ice tends to form around it and bare feet provide no traction on ice. Everyone working in the hotels and the resorts is really nice and friendly. I did not meet anyone in the service industry who was the least bit snobby. We rode up with a guy on the lift who said to us: "I work here, so if you have any questions about the mountain, I might be able to answer them for you." But then you sit in the hot tub and there's a 70 year old man with a huge gold pimp chain around his neck with a woman half his age with a thick, slavic accent.
Different people bring out different sides of our personalities. With one friend I can drink beer and talk about monster trucks. With another friend I might go hiking and talk about Theology. Believe it or not, a woman once called me the 'king of wit' but I can almost never get more than a chuckle or a snort out of my girlfriend. It's kind of depressing.
Two hard days of skiing. Hopefully it won't be too hard to walk tomorrow.
