"I want to live like a poor man with lots of money" -- Pablo Picasso

Wine is one of my three favorite things in the world. I've done some thinking about it and it's third on the list. If you must know, my favorite things in the world are, in order:

  1. Women
  2. Coffee
  3. Wine

There is something poetic about drinking a nice bottle of wine. I have some fond memories of a 1985 Chateau Canon that I had two Thanksgivings ago. I bought it in Montpellier, France for the bargain price of $250. Then over the course of two hours, my family and I drank the wine, enjoyed it immensely. I think I closed my eyes every moment that I tasted that wine just to make sure that my sight didn't distract me from the sensations. Then I swallow it, and that bit of wine is gone, forever. And soon the entire bottle of wine is consumed, done, never to be seen again, leaving only it's hollow shell behind. It's unique, expensive, exquisite, but so temporary. Just like life.

The strangest search string leading here in the month of November:

"Pooping Animals"

A nightly dose of non-sequiters: Odd Todd came out with his unemployment annual report. It looks like he's starting to make a career out of being unemployed. A wired article talking about the sufi-like devotion of the mac clan quotes a Ziff Davis editor saying "there needs to be a psychosexual analysis of the mac community." Who knows what they'd find - geeks tend towards the kinky side. Speaking of sexual challenges, Volkswagen announced a concept car that gets about 239 miles per gallon. Spam filters never fail to amuse me - so far they seem to label all the mailings I've signed up for as spam, while letting actual spam pass through unharmed. Go figure.

Cozumel

A blog drought cycle. Over thanksgiving, we spent an idyllic four days in Cozumel. The hotel was nice, and even though our room said 'Garden View' and not 'Ocean View', our room had a perfect view of the ocean. We could sit on our patio, read a book and listen to the surf, glasses of wine in hand. It was in the 80s during the day, so it wasn't too hot to be bearable, but it was hot enough to play voleyball, or swim in the ocean, the 70 degree ocean full of tropical fish. The hotel was nice, with exceedingly friendly staff. It was calm and the weather was perfect. I've never been so sad to leave a place in my life.
